ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Lifeguards rescued over 200 people from dangerous rip currents during the weekend—some were taken to the hospital—and warn that the high risk will remain through tonight. The Daytona Beach News-Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Daytona Beach area will host several fall festivals including the Ormond Beach Live Original Music & Art Festival on Sept. 27, Biketoberfest from Oct. 16 to 19, Halifax Art Festival on Nov. 1 to 2, Greek Festival from Nov. 13 to 16, Riverfest Seafood Festival on Nov. 15 to 16, Fall Festival of the Arts on Nov. 22 to 23 and Daytona Turkey Run from Nov. 27 to 30. - ➤ My Chemical Romance will headline the 2026 Welcome to Rockville music festival at Daytona International Speedway from May 7th to May 10th. This will be their first show in Daytona Beach since reuniting in 2019 — more headliners will be announced soon. WNDB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A state House panel began a two-day review of property taxes on Monday, September 22 to decide how changes might affect local governments. Lawmakers will continue to debate potential modifications throughout the session. FOX 35 Orlando
- ➤ VoRide will expand east after its proposed service changes are reviewed on Oct. 7, and Transit Services Director Bobbie King said the county will add online scheduling & payment options. The county celebrated its 50th anniversary at VoTran headquarters in Daytona Beach and honored longtime bus driver Bernard Huggins, who has served since 1975. The Daytona Beach News-Journal
- ➤ Seminole County commissioners are set to approve $11.5M to cover operating costs for SunRail Tuesday morning as the state shifts control to local governments next year. The change means Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Volusia and Orlando will share costs based on ridership. News 6
