  • The Daytona Regional Chamber’s 106th Annual Meeting, presented by Halifax Health, will be held Monday, Feb. 2 at Daytona State College’s performing arts center at 220 N.   • Avelo Airlines announced Tuesday it will extend its Central Florida flight schedule through Aug. 18, 2026 from six local airports, offering one-way fares starting at $42 for summer travel. Travelers can book flights at AveloAir.com.  WESH

  • International touring Irish music and dance production A Taste of Ireland will perform Sunday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. at The Peabody Auditorium on Auditorium Blvd.—the event features renowned dance champions who blend traditional Irish moves with modern energy.   • Volusia County Schools named Erika Kazma of R.J. Longstreet Elementary Teacher of the Year on Jan. 10—she was chosen from 70 nominees and will represent the county in the state contest.  Hometown News

  • Volusia County Mosquito Control Division will host a free tire disposal drive-thru event for residents to drop off up to 20 residential tires from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in DeLand — an effort to reduce mosquito breeding.  Hometown News

  • VoTran has launched an Uber-powered ride option (backed by a $450K grant) that offers Transportation Disadvantaged trips of up to 15 miles at $3.50 per way. The pilot runs through the end of June in Volusia County with rides requested via VoTran's mobile app or phone.  Hometown News

HEALTH NEWS

  • During National Passenger Safety Week, AAA reports that teen drivers with only teen passengers face a 51% higher risk of deadly crashes in Central FL, plus it advises parents to set passenger limits and model safe practices on Daytona Beach roads.  WESH

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In October, DeLand approved an ordinance to build a tiny home community in its Core Gateway Overlay to provide affordable housing, especially for those without homes. Other Volusia cities, including Daytona Beach, have not moved forward due to zoning restrictions (minimum living area limits).  Hometown News
