- ➤ Volusia County will remove invasive pepper plants from Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet the week of Feb. 16 using mechanical methods to boost native growth and park access. - ➤ The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission approved new regulations for spotted seatrout that establish nine management regions and adjust bag and slot limits in Volusia County; the changes will take effect on April 1 (Volusia County spans the Northeast and Indian River Lagoon regions with different seasons). - ➤ Marine Science Center staff at 100 Lighthouse Drive in Ponce Inlet are rescuing sea turtles affected by cold weather that can drop water temperatures below 50°F, which causes the reptiles to become lethargic; residents are urged to call the FWC if they see any turtles in distress (888-404-3922).
