- ➤ A brush fire spread across South Daytona Beach and forced evacuations on Cyan Avenue on Feb. 23 — fire officials said windy conditions and drought increased the risk. FOX 35 Orlando

- ➤ An Embry-Riddle professor is leading a $7.2 million project funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research to study how severe weather affects the ionosphere. - ➤ Cold, dry + gusty winds have raised fire danger in the region. WESH2 declared a Severe Weather Warning Day from Monday through Wednesday; gusts of up to 30 mph are expected today in Daytona Beach with temperatures at 43°F. WESH
- ➤ FOX 35 meteorologist Noah Bergren explained that low humidity and strong winds are creating a high risk of brush fires in Florida, with several counties under red flag warnings today. FOX 35 Orlando
- ➤ Fire crews fought a brush fire covering over 20 acres west of the Mosaic subdivision in Daytona Beach on Feb. 23; by noon the blaze was 25% contained (no structures were threatened). FOX 35 Orlando
