Good morning, Daytona Beach.

A shooting Saturday night near a beach-side hotel in Daytona Beach left two 19-year-old men injured+ police said they are investigating what led to the incident.

Local law enforcement is on high alert for Spring Break as officials say patrols will be intensified to deter criminal activity (measures begin ahead of the break) and any suspicious behavior will meet a swift response (authorities plan tighter enforcement to keep the community safe).

Canadian Spring Breakers have begun arriving and leaving as thousands more visitors and residents plan to enjoy the beach, and Volusia County urges everyone to register with ParkVolusia for easier parking—nonresidents may buy daily or annual passes and must follow safety rules.

County officials also say a new dune walkover at Winterhaven Park is under construction and will be finished in April before sea turtle nesting season.
