  • Volusia County deputies arrested 120 people on Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach during spring break in the last week—12 face felony charges and 20 are juveniles.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Jean Macean, 35, was accused of killing a Daytona Beach couple during Bike Week in 2022 and asked a judge on Friday to drop the death penalty—his defense said key witnesses from Haiti could not testify.  News 6

  • The musical Mean Girls will perform at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando from March 28 to March 30—then it will move to Peabody Auditorium on March 31 for Daytona Beach fans. Special pre-show events and a cast Q&A will add extra fun in Orlando.  News 6

  • Embry-Riddle Aerospace Engineering student Wilmar A. Gálvez Alfonso from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico interviewed Latino NASA astronauts on March 21st at a Hispanic Heritage Foundation event at the White House—she shares her journey on social media to encourage young people to pursue STEM. She received a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship and will intern with Amazon Future Engineer this summer to gain hands-on experience in her field.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
