  • Sheriff Mike Chitwood said 191 arrests were made in Volusia County during last week's spring break compared to 52 last year — and law enforcement is now targeting unsanctioned events in Daytona Beach after one event resulted in two shootings.  News 6
  • Giovanni Bubenik, a 29-year-old DeLand resident, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after hitting an adult male multiple times at a transient camp near International Speedway Blvd and Stone Street—he was arrested Friday at a residence on Evergreen Terrace and booked without bond, leaving the victim critically injured with long-term memory loss.  WNDB
  • A Deltona man identified as Myles Webb was charged with aggravated assault and simple battery after he attacked an UberEats driver on March 22 when she said she would return the alcohol after he refused to show his ID—he grabbed her arm and a glass bottle as her boyfriend came to her defense.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Embry-Riddle students from Prescott and Daytona Beach competed in the 8th Annual Lockheed Martin Ethics in Engineering Competition held in February in Bethesda and placed among the top four of 67 teams by solving ethical problems in wildfire management.
