Good morning, Daytona Beach.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies cleared a homeless camp on private wooded land near DeLand after an attempted murder there last week—ordering the squatters to leave by next Friday.

Central Florida is expecting numerous showers and storms to develop today with strong wind gusts up to 45 to 55 mph and small hail—conditions that may bring heavy rains and minor flooding on roadways with poor drainage.

Volusia County Council will vote Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in DeLand chambers—on a plan to spend over $4.6 million from Volusia ECHO and Volusia Forever funds to buy 356 acres on State Road 44 for a public motocross facility and wetland conservation area near the gun and hunt club.

The county looked at a site on Tomoka Farms Road but faced pushback from residents over noise, which led councilman Don Dempsey to support this option.
