- ➤ Florida high school rankings released earlier showed that Pine View School in Osprey earned the No.1 spot statewide and the No.18 ranking nationally — Westshore Junior/Senior High School in Melbourne was named the best public school in Central Florida. In Volusia County, Daytona Beach schools like Seabreeze High School and Mainland High School ranked among the top based on graduation rates, college readiness, and test scores. News 6
- ➤ Volusia County Schools District is testing a new weapons detection system called Evolv— the first advanced security screening technology in Florida. The pilot started on April 1st and will help improve security in the school district. FOX 35 Orlando

- ➤ Volusia County council voted 5-0 to make the dog-friendly section of Ormond Beach permanent after a pilot program that ran since November 1st, 2023 and saw 12,883 dog visits with no reported incidents—officials said the current rules will remain and will explore adding more dog areas in the future.
