Volusia County reopened Frank Rendon Park on Tuesday, Mar.

31 to restore public access after storm damage, offering most amenities and beach access while the playground remains closed until it reopens before Mother’s Day weekend (pavilion reservations open Apr. 6 online).

A surge in stranded sea turtles has kept rescue teams busy along the Volusia County coast, with volunteers recovering about 20 turtles in three days.

Many of the turtles are tangled in seaweed and in poor condition, and they are now receiving urgent care at the Marine Science Center.
