  • The Domestic Abuse Council is expanding help for survivors by adding a pet housing service in partnership with Halifax Humane Society — survivors can now access free veterinary care and secure shelter for pets while they seek safety.   • A 17-year-old Special Olympics athlete (Juaquin Perry) was hit by an SUV near I-95 today and is recovering from a broken jaw, arm fractures, and pelvic injuries; his family thanked strangers who stepped in to help him.  News 6
  • Today, rough weather pushed a sailboat onto the sand in New Smyrna Beach, leading officials to help the couple who lost their mast; another vessel washed ashore at New Smyrna Dunes Dog Beach while beach access points remain closed + boat owners may face removal fees if not removed promptly.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • Jay Station LLC is proposing a major travel center for truckers and motorists near Interstate 4 and SR 44 at 2845 E. New York Ave. County staff will review the draft plans amid local residents' concerns over traffic, noise and safety while public hearings are yet to be scheduled.  Hometown News

  • Port Orange City Council approved a plan for 50 single-family homes on 56.5 acres off Airport Road following a 5-0 vote on zoning amendments. The project led by Paytas Homes will move forward once the developer submits final plans at the next council meeting April 21.  Hometown News
