  • A Veterans Service Organization sergeant and an FHP trooper narrowly escaped injury when an SUV ran off I-95 amid a car versus deer response early Sunday—hitting the patrol vehicle and the car that struck the deer before spinning back onto the highway.  WESH

  • At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Daytona Beach police responded to a shooting on the 200 block of Ontario Court that left one person dead—three other victims were treated at a local hospital, with two in critical but stable condition and one released.  WESH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida lawmakers are considering a bill that would require all private businesses to use E-Verify— a House bill has cleared several committees and would fine businesses $1,000 per day while threatening license loss if they do not comply. Senate leaders said they still have time to review it before the session ends May 2, although a stricter Senate version has stalled in committee.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
