  • Embry-Riddle’s Eagles Flight Team parachuted teddy bears from two aircraft at Massey Ranch Airpark in Edgewater on April 4 to support Kada’s Promise. The bears will be delivered to foster children, hospitals, and shelters during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
  • Couples with weddings booked at the Crystal Ballroom (Ocean Walk) are upset after the venue was evicted in March for unpaid rent. Bride Kiara Henry, who lost $4,000 in deposits, now plans to postpone her 2026 wedding to 2027 as the owner works with clients on new arrangements.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • The annual Jeep Beach event kicked off last Friday in Daytona Beach and will run for 10 days, drawing tens of thousands of Jeep owners from Volusia County. A vendor show is planned (April 24-25) at Daytona International Speedway with a parade on April 26.  WNDB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Volusia County completed a sand fencing project on Wednesday in Ponce Inlet at Oceanview Avenue and in front of Lighthouse Point Park — about 1,800 feet of fence was installed to reinforce natural dunes, reduce wind-driven sand displacement, and help protect coastal areas from future erosion as staff monitor progress.  WNDB
