ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 1-year-old child died on Wednesday night in Daytona Beach after chasing a family dog that had escaped from home and running into oncoming traffic — two vehicles struck the child.  FOX 35 Orlando

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Joe's Crab Shack on the Daytona Beach Pier made record sales of $9.7 million in the lease year that ended last June—$560,597 more than it made the year before. In the current lease period from July 2024 to February 2025, its sales fell by $435,913 compared to the same months last year.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • The Daytona Beach City Commission approved an extension of the boardwalk and seawall on April 16 to include space for the new Señor Frog's restaurant at the corner of South Ocean and Harvey avenues. Although the restaurant opening has been delayed until further notice, the project will cost $170,237 and will move forward with surveys and fire flow tests due by June 30.  Hometown News

CRIME NEWS

  • Twelve jurors and two alternates were sworn in at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand to decide whether convicted murderers Jeron Hunter and Troy Victorino—accused in the brutal beating and stabbing deaths of six victims in Deltona—will be sentenced to life in prison or death, with opening statements set for Monday at 8:30 a.m.  WESH
