  • Aldi announced it will open three new stores in Volusia County, including a new Deltona location at 2880 Howland Blvd expected to open May 1, a brand-new store anchoring a retail development in Port Orange, and a second Ormond Beach location replacing a Winn-Dixie store. Local officials said the Ormond Beach conversion timeline is not yet confirmed (restoration will cost about $1.7 million).  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

  • Due to drought and windy weather that increase wildfire risk, several Central Florida counties have imposed burn bans. Seminole County has banned burns since April 17, Orange since April 16, Polk since April 15, Volusia since April 16, Lake since March 25, Flagler since April 16, Sumter since April 14, and Brevard since April 22.  WESH
