  • Forest, a white-tailed deer orphaned as a fawn, will move to the Deltona sanctuary once his enclosure is ready, plus nonprofit 101 Paws and Claws is raising funds to build his fence and barn. He will have a wooded retreat for solitude, according to CEO Meagan Farley.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A $42,000 Community Impact grant will give Campbell Middle more health+ wellness and learning services to help students and families right where they need it. The grant funds a whole-child program run by Children’s Home Society of Florida with local partners.  Hometown News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mason Avenue (state Road 430) will close from 7 a.m. Saturday, May 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 4 for work at a railroad crossing between Swift Street and Seagrave Street. Motorists should follow posted detour signs using eastbound and westbound routes via Swift Street, Kingston Avenue, and Seagrave Street or Carswell Avenue, 2nd Street, and Center Street.  Hometown News
