  • A Daytona Beach bicyclist, identified as Adam P. Lacouzz, died after a head-on collision with a car — when both tried to avoid each other — at the intersection of 10th Street and the Florida East Coast railroad tracks near Centennial Park and Lake Hadley in Holly Hill on Monday.  News 6
  • Daytona Beach man Christopher Strata was arrested early Sunday in Edgewater after a police chase that exceeded 100 mph—he is now facing charges of DUI and fleeing law enforcement.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Deputies have issued a warrant for the arrest of Andrew Ingram of Busy Bee Roofing who allegedly scammed a Port Orange resident out of $21,000 by taking payment in November without starting work.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida House and Senate passed the Pam Rock Act (named after a mail carrier killed by dogs) that will require owners to keep dangerous dogs securely confined, microchip them, and buy up to $100,000 liability insurance. The bill, prompted by the fatal attack on an 8-year-old in DeLand, is headed to the governor’s desk and is expected to save lives.  WESH
  • Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the 2025 red snapper season in the Gulf of Mexico, setting 126 days of fishing from September to December — including periods on major holidays like Veterans Day and Thanksgiving — and officials expect the schedule to give local anglers extra opportunities to fish.  WNDB
