- ➤ Breeze Airways will begin a new flight from Daytona Beach International Airport to Akron-Canton Airport on September 3—flying twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays with fares starting at $49 for a basic option. - ➤ The Volusia County Council approved an ordinance that will require owners of dogs classified as dangerous in unincorporated areas, Pierson, and Oak hill to carry at least $500,000 in liability insurance. Dog classification is based on behavior—such as unprovoked biting or menacing approaches—and owners who fail to meet all requirements will face a $500 fine per violation when the ordinance takes effect in the coming weeks. - ➤ Volusia County is accepting applications to join the Charter Review Commission until June 30—County Council will select 15 members on July 22 to recommend changes for the 2026 ballot. The county will also offer free pet vaccinations and microchipping on May 12 at Chipper Jones Park, host a community meeting with Councilman Troy Kent on May 19 at the Ormond Beach Regional Library, and reopen the Lighthouse Point Park jetty connector with new decking—providing enhanced public access along the water.
