- ➤ Volusia County plans to buy 50 flood-damaged homes and tear them down to create stormwater retention areas—using part of a $130 million federal aid package recently approved. - ➤ A new hurricane response bill headed to the governor’s desk will stop local governments from enforcing strict land development rules for one year after a hurricane — a measure that Volusia County leaders fear may undo recent stormwater and zoning improvements. News 6
- ➤ Volusia County Council passed an ordinance requiring owners of dogs classified as dangerous in unincorporated areas, plus Pierson and Oak Hill, to carry $500,000 in liability insurance.
