  • Daytona Beach police are searching for 16-year-old Rayah Hammons—a girl last seen wearing a gray jacket and sweatpants whose location is unknown; anyone with information is urged to contact police immediately.  News 6
  • Port Orange police said Friday that a man who has been missing for two weeks is believed to be in Daytona Beach + anyone with information should call the non-emergency number 386-248-1777 and reference case No. 250002321.  News 6

  • On Friday, Westside Elementary third-graders were surprised when teacher Tasney Thomas announced they were headed to Disney World after she raised thousands of dollars—students will catch the bus to Magic Kingdom today at 5:15 a.m. and each will receive a $25 gift card, two meals and Lightning Lane passes.  WESH

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County issued a health alert after a water sample from the center of Lake Monroe tested positive for harmful blue-green algae toxins on May 8. Health officials advise residents to avoid contact with the water, wash off any exposure, and keep pets and livestock away to reduce health risks.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
