  • On May 18, hundreds gathered at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach to honor 26-year-old Adam Smith, an assistant coach at Spruce Creek who died in a single-car crash on May 10 near Yorktowne Boulevard and Hidden Lake Drive in Port Orange—players wore armbands while a banner reading Fly High Brother was displayed.  WESH

  • Florida’s first Advanced Air Mobility Symposium was held May 11-12 at the Daytona Beach campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where over 300 aviation leaders discussed safe tech integration, economic growth and workforce training while BETA Technologies demonstrated its all-electric fixed-wing ALIA CTOL aircraft near the airport.  Hometown News

  • Joe Gibney, the new dean of Embry-Riddle’s O’Maley College of Business at Daytona Beach, is launching initiatives that boost hands-on learning and industry ties.   • Volusia County officials enforce safe beach driving on Daytona Beach by requiring vehicles to drive under 10 mph and park only in designated areas.
