- ➤ Residents in Volusia and Flagler counties will mark Memorial Day on Monday by attending ceremonies that honor fallen service members. The events include a DeLand ceremony at 9 a.m. with a mayoral keynote—others in Deltona, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, Bunnell and Palm Coast will also feature tributes such as wreath-laying and name readings. - ➤ Volusia County Schools switched from Florida Health Care Plans to the Texas startup Curative led by 30-year-old Fred Turner after a nearly four-month review and a May 13 vote yielded a $153 million contract for a plan with no copays and no deductibles — the new coverage will begin Oct. 1 with care navigators assigned to help employees during the transition. - ➤ Volusia County launched the Volusia Values Veterans Program after the County Council approved it Tuesday.
