The National Weather Service is marking National Lightning Safety Awareness Week by reminding everyone to go indoors when thunder roars and wait 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder—an important tip to help avoid lightning injuries.

Three people were struck by lightning on June 20 in New Smyrna Beach, and one man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, so experts urge all to seek shelter during outdoor activities.
