- ➤ The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is restoring fish and wildlife habitat on Lake George in Volusia and Putnam counties. This spring the FWC set up 34 temporary fenced enclosures — covering more than 110 acres — and planted over 90 acres of eelgrass to boost habitat and improve water quality while advising boaters to navigate the shorelines with care. - ➤ The Volusia County Council approved a $25.8M project on June 17 to add 550,000 cubic yards of beach-friendly sand along New Smyrna Beach—from a state grant that helps fix damage from Tropical Storms Ian and Nicole.
