  • A fire broke out early Saturday in Port Orange and destroyed a home—two people are in critical condition while the State Fire Marshal Bureau is investigating the cause.  FOX 35 Orlando

CRIME NEWS

  • On June 28th, a Florida woman was arrested for aggravated animal cruelty after allegedly leaving multiple pets to die in an abandoned home — she is held in Volusia County Jail with a $70,000 bond.  FOX 35 Orlando

CULTURE NEWS

  • On June 28, hundreds gathered around City Hall and other sites to support the LGBQT+ community and celebrate Pride Month—demonstrators carried signs and flags urging equality in the group events.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed five new state laws on Thursday that change oil drilling permits, state rulemaking methods, emergency procedures, mitigation credits and Israel boycott definitions — four of these laws will start on July 1 while one took effect immediately.  News 6

  • A 20 story building known as the I-4 Eyesore has loomed unfinished over I-4 for more than 20 years and may soon open its doors. The project will end a long delay and could jump-start local development using renewed investment along I-4.  FOX 35 Orlando
