Good morning, Daytona Beach.

On July 1, Halifax Humane Society launched its Dogs Day Out program at Daytona Aquarium & Rainforest Adventure where volunteers took shelter dogs to explore marine and rainforest exhibits.

The event offered a fun community outing for pets.

The Community Foundation has partnered with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide to expand its IRS‑certified free tax prep services and remove income and age restrictions for all residents during the 2026 season; tax appointment scheduling will open early 2027 in Volusia and Flagler counties.

A $200,000 grant from the USTA awarded on July 1 will rebuild all nine tennis courts and add new fencing at ERAU’s Crotty Tennis Complex on campus.

The project, handled by Legacy Sports (the contractor), will benefit varsity tennis programs and local community events.

Daytona Beach officials approved $400K in matching funds to pursue a county ECHO grant for extending the boardwalk and seawall between Breakers Park and Harvey Avenue.

The project is in the preliminary phase and will finish in fall (pending permit review on Aug. 27).

Public safety officials are increasing patrols at Volusia County beaches as crowds prepare to gather for the Fourth of July weekend — dangerous weather and surf conditions are forecast.

Volusia County Animal Services urged pet owners to use caution before Fourth of July fireworks by keeping pets indoors and updating collars, ID tags, and microchip data (this help aims to reduce lost pets during the holiday).
