- ➤ The January count in Volusia and Flagler recorded 1083 homeless people—a 7% drop from last year—but Neighborhood Center CEO Savannah-Jane Griffin said her center still faces high demand for rent and utility help due to rising living costs and the impact of Hurricane Milton. - ➤ A lightning strike hit the roof of a home on Halifax River in Ormond Beach at about 4 p.m. Monday, causing pieces of the ceiling to fall on Paul Holub as he slept — his family helped clear the debris — and leaving him lucky to be alive. WESH

- ➤ Since 1995, Dolly Parton Imagination Library has provided over 280 million books to more than 3 million children through nonprofit partners in Central Florida counties—Orange, Lake, Flagler, Volusia and Polk. Local groups cover a fee of about $30 per child per year so kids from birth to age 5 can build a personal library of 60 books. News 6
