  • Halifax Humane Society in Daytona Beach announced a partnership with Petco Love to add the Love Lost program—an AI photo matching system—to help reunite lost pets with their owners. The shelter encouraged residents and local officials to register pets before hurricane season starts.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • Yesterday, Daytona Aquarium & Rainforest Adventure opened a new rainforest exhibit that features animals such as otters Betty and Boop, tamarins, and toucans—adding variety to Daytona Beach attractions. CRIME NEWS

  • Two Californians, Jason Hellawell aged 56 and Ariel Wang aged 33, were arrested for scamming a 61-year-old Orange City woman out of $487350 by hacking her accountant's email to make her believe she owed large tax bills; Hellawell was taken into custody in California while Wang turned herself in at the local jail.  WNDB

  • The Eta Iota Chapter of Sigma Chi at Embry-Riddle’s Daytona Beach Campus raised $62,000 during the 2024-25 school year—breaking its own record and becoming the highest fundraising student organization for Huntsman Cancer Institute. The fraternity held events like a Call-A-Thon and a 5K color run that helped it join the Huntsman Cancer Institute’s 50K Club among top national chapters.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
