Good morning, Daytona Beach.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has increased traffic enforcement along US 17—SR 11 and SR 40 in response to a series of fatal crashes that claimed a 48-year-old man, another man, a woman, and a 16-year-old girl, urging drivers to avoid speeding and aggressive driving.

Volusia County Council approved a flat millage rate of 3.8412 for the Fire Rescue District at its July 22 meeting—after Lt. Paramedic Jeremy Karaginis warned about slow ambulance response times.

The county will finalize the budget and tax rates in September and mail tentative rates in August.
