- ➤ Florida's sales tax holiday began Friday morning and will run for the whole month of August to help families save 6% on school supplies, clothing under $100 and computers priced at $1,500 or less at stores like Walmart and Target. Lawmakers expanded the break so that items from computer accessories to classroom supplies are free of state sales tax — a rule that does not cover theme parks, hotels or airports — giving shoppers a way to lower back-to-school costs.
