ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Port Orange police are investigating a vehicle involved in two crashes — one at Herbert Street and Old Hammock Road where it hit a tree and the driver was hospitalized, and another at Nova Road and Dunlawton Avenue where it left the scene — as the driver sustained serious injuries. WESH
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Volusia Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Seville man Anthony Handam for allegedly driving 105 mph in a 45 mph zone on County Road 3 in DeLeon Springs under the new Super Speeder law—he posted a $1,000 bond and was later released. WNDB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Volusia County school board members and the teachers union raised concerns over an NDA that requires some school employees to sign—keeping budget details secret. The board will discuss the issue at a meeting on Aug. 12 while the district has yet to respond clearly. News 6

- ➤ Frank Rendon Park in Daytona Beach Shores will close for six months starting Aug. 11 as the county begins restoring the park with a new seawall, ADA-accessible dune walkover, new stairs, rebuilt pavilions, and a restored oceanfront observation area following damage from hurricanes Ian and Nicole.
