CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Since July 1, Florida Highway Patrol officers have arrested 55 drivers across Central Florida for dangerous excessive speeding violations—some in Seminole County on I-4—and drivers now face charges that include jail time, fines, and possible vehicle impoundment. News 6
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ FPL asked the Public Service Commission to consider a rate hike that would add nearly $10B to revenue and cause electric bills to rise by about 20% over the next four years (raising Northwest customers' costs from $3.50 to $8.39 monthly and higher elsewhere). - ➤ Volusia County schools will add ZeroEyes, an artificial intelligence system that uses existing cameras to scan for guns and alert law enforcement when a potential threat is detected. The school system will spend about $50,000 per year on this technology to help keep students safe. News 6
