On Monday, a small airplane carrying an advertisement banner crashed into water in Ponce Inlet during the early afternoon—no one was injured as the U.S. Coast Guard—Volusia County Beach Patrol—and Ponce Inlet Fire Rescue arrived to help.

One man died last week in an Ormond Beach car crash that police say may have been caused by speeding and alcohol—officers responded at 9 p.m. on August 8 at the intersection of East Granada Boulevard and Vining Court, with both drivers taken to the hospital.

The Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday that Don Burnette has been appointed as its new President and CEO and he will assume the role on August 25th + his predecessor Barbara Ann Heegan resigned at the end of July to care for a relative.
