- ➤ A lightning strike caused a fire at Lake Forest Apartments on 600 Jimmy Ann Drive in Daytona Beach on Thursday, damaging two apartment units—nine residents received assistance from the Red Cross as no injuries were reported. News 6

- ➤ A 16 year old home schooled boy was arrested in Volusia County after posting a photo of a handgun with an extended magazine on Instagram linked to Mainland High School—his post caused fear and school disruption and he later admitted he made a mistake. News 6
- ➤ Deputies said a man was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex on Botts Landing Road in DeLand around 11:22 a.m. Friday— the shooter was identified and detained. News 6
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Seventeen high school students from Volusia County took part in the SKY-CARE Internship Program at Embry-Riddle’s Research Park during June and July.
