- ➤ White Castle signed a lease to build a new restaurant — at 1944 LPGA Blvd. in Daytona Beach — marking its fourth Florida location. The chain plans a modern design with indoor and outdoor seating, two drive-thru lanes, and over 70 jobs when it opens late summer. FOX 35 Orlando
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Leonard Fries Jr., a suspect in drug trafficking from Ormond Beach who was first arrested on May 16 during a narcotics search at his home, was rearrested on Aug. 22 on six additional charges after detectives obtained two extra arrest warrants following controlled narcotics purchases—and he now faces a total of 13 charges. - ➤ Volusia County has named Ray Tyner as its new Growth and Resource Management director after a vote of seven to zero on Aug. 19, replacing Clay Ervin whose last day was Aug. 1; he will start on Sept. 22 at a salary of $181,000 and oversee Building + Code Administration, Environmental Management and Planning and Development Services while continuing to live in unincorporated Flagler County.
