- ➤ At the Sept 4 meeting, Volusia County Council members sharply criticized Chairman Jeff Brower for accusing them of malfeasance at an Aug 19 County meeting and an Aug 18 Edgewater session, saying his remarks hurt ties with state lawmakers during a sensitive time. Brower maintained his stance and said he would retract his comment only if 'malfeasance' means an intentional unlawful act—leaving many council members urging more clarity. - ➤ Daytona Beach city commissioners will vote on a nearly $380M budget on Sept 17 and may raise property taxes since the current rate yields more revenue from increased property values—resulting in higher bills for homeowners.
