- ➤ Tropical Storm Watch for coastal areas was dropped as Imelda shifts away from the shore — however, Tropical Storm Warnings for offshore waters remain in effect with rough surf, high rip current risk and gusty winds expected within the next 36 hours. WESH
- ➤ County officials warned beachgoers today to avoid the water as Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Humberto bring life-threatening surf and rip currents to east coast beaches—only experienced surfers are risking the choppy waves. WESH
- ➤ Tropical Depression 9 is expected to become a tropical storm by tonight as it moves north and brings rough surf and high rip currents to coastal communities. The storm is forecast to track near Cape Canaveral at 2 p.m. today before turning away later this week as a Category One hurricane—residents should follow local updates. WESH
