  • A missing dog was found in a DeLand driveway when a local couple took the small pup to animal services—its microchip linked it to owner Christy Taylor who had been missing her pet for five years and flew in to reunite with it.  WNDB

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local writer Mike Miller spotlighted five haunted sites near Volusia and Flagler counties — including the Devil's Chair in Lake Helen, the old Mayfair Hotel in Sanford, sugar mill ruins in New Smyrna Beach, a historic oak at Bulow Creek State Park and a haunted stretch along I-4. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Daytona State College announced that starting in January, its Flagler/Palm Coast campus will offer a full Emergency Medical Technician Certificate program—this one-semester program includes 90 hours of clinical experience and serves as a prerequisite for the paramedic program.  WNDB
  • Embry-Riddle students built Langmuir probe instruments that will fly on NASA’s ESCAPADE mission to study Mars’ atmosphere and the effects of solar storms. The twin orbiters are set to launch no earlier than November from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and will send data back in 2027—helping scientists map how Mars lost its water.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

  • Coldest air of the season was recorded on Halloween—bringing chilly yet pleasant conditions for trick-or-treaters with highs in the low 70s. Fall weather remained mild through the weekend—though rain chances increased Sunday night into Monday before more seasonable temperatures returned later.  WESH
