COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Volusia County Council voted Tuesday to open a 1.7-mile dog-friendly section of Daytona Beach from Williams Avenue to Seabreeze Boulevard starting Dec 1—county officials said dogs must be leashed and owners must clean up while a local nonprofit helps with startup costs and ongoing maintenance.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Volusia County approved a 1.7-mile dog-friendly beach area in Daytona Beach that will open Dec. 1—dog owners must keep their pets leashed and pick up after them. The new area features six vehicle ramps, nearly 300 off-beach parking spaces, and two pedestrian walkovers—steps expected to support easy access for residents and visitors.  News 6

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Aura Aero, a French planemaker, opened its US headquarters at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Research Park in Daytona Beach on October 29—starting production of two-seater Integral airplanes for the North American market. The company plans to launch an electric version next year and break ground on a larger assembly plant at Daytona Beach International Airport in late 2026 or early 2027 to create over 1,000 jobs.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has launched an International Ambassador Program to link students, faculty and industry partners for boosting global aerospace research and innovation. The program—supported by Florida leadership through SelectFlorida—has forged new partnerships with Italian firms and universities to expand job opportunities and strengthen the state's competitive edge.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At the Mid-Florida Housing Partnership in Daytona Beach, staff said the government shutdown slowed vital housing, budgeting, and homeownership programs for families struggling with rent, utilities, and food—calls for rental assistance increased as federal funding was paused—while the nonprofit has fielded a half dozen calls daily and hopes funding resumes soon.  WESH

  • Florida Health Care Plans opened its new clinic and in-house pharmacy at Tymber Creek Village in Daytona Beach on November 4 at 2655 LPGA Blvd. — located directly across from Latitude Margaritaville — and the facility offered drive-through services Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
