Kris Sternberg was named executive director of the Volusia Literacy Council, a nonprofit that has helped adults read, write and improve their skills since 1985 (she was pictured at the office on Oct.
15, 2025). The group will host a Lights for Literacy Gala on Dec. 11 at Embry-Riddle featuring auction items like a bicycle and an autographed basketball from local NBA star Vince Carter.
Embry-Riddle student teams tested a soft goods attachment tool for NASA at the Johnson Space Center’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory in Houston as part of the Micro-g NExT Competition.
The students overcame issues like a disconnected fabric layer and a broken knob—proving their design could work in a pool that simulates weightlessness.
