- ➤ A shelter in DeLand run by The Neighborhood Center is offering warmth and meals as cold weather affects the area. They add 30—35 beds and seek donations while doors open Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for those in need. News 6

- ➤ Trader Joe’s will open its new Daytona Beach location at Tomoka Town Center next to Interstate 95 on Friday, Nov. 14 with doors opening at 9 a.m. & a ribbon-cutting scheduled for 8:55 a.m.; the store will offer Trader Joe’s brand products, daily operating until 9 p.m. WESH
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Record lows in the 30s were measured Tuesday across Central Florida including Orlando, Sanford and Melbourne and frost advisories remain in effect overnight into today — local residents in Volusia are advised to protect sensitive plants. Forecasts show a high of 57 this afternoon with gradual warming later in the week. WESH
- ➤ The Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet received a $20,000 donation from Zev Cohen and Associates after Volusia County Council voted to accept the gift. The center will add a clear roof to shield the non-releasable eagles — Liberty and Freedom — from avian influenza and build an interactive exhibit with a five-foot by three-foot life-size eagle nest.
