  • Community members will celebrate Dr. Howard Thurman's birthday in Daytona Beach on Nov 17 & 18. The event starts with a panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. on Nov 17 at Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church and features a tour and celebration on Nov 18 hosted by the Howard Thurman Historic Home and local university communities to honor his lasting legacy.  Hometown News
  • The A1A Super Scenic Garage Sale returns today and stretches 150 miles along State Road A1A from Fernandina Beach to Ponce Inlet with sales running from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.—shoppers can use a free app to locate participating spots and restaurant deals.  News 6

  • Walmart started its Black Friday sale on November 14th — the event will run until November 16th. Daytona Beach shoppers can find deals on toys, tech, home goods and holiday decor with prices below $50 that offer early savings for the holiday season.  WESH
  • Trader Joe’s opened its new Daytona Beach location on Friday at 1507 Cornerstone Boulevard — part of the Tomoka Town Center shopping area near Tanger Outlets and Buc-ee’s — giving locals a nearby option instead of driving to Orlando. The store is also near Ford’s Garage and Academy Sports & Outdoors and joins recent Trader Joe’s openings in other states.  WNDB

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Embry-Riddle hosted a two-day AI Summit from November 4th-5th at the Henderson Welcome Center where speakers and researchers examined artificial intelligence's impact on teaching and aerospace work in Daytona Beach + faculty and students tested demos and discussed ethical use of AI in classrooms.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
