  • Neighbors and community groups are urged to collect food items now for the 40th anniversary of WESH 2’s Share Your Christmas food drive on Dec. 12 — which will be broadcast live across six counties. Donations will support Second Harvest Food Bank with drop-off events at locations including Daytona International Speedway — a vital stop for easing food insecurity.  WESH
  • The Riley family faced hardships after a job loss in July and the loss of their dog but stays hopeful through the FBH TeenZone program at Galaxy Middle School—where sponsors help Tat-Yana and Mahlia learn important life skills. The family shared holiday wish lists for Santa as they continue to focus on giving during tough times.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • Family and friends held a celebration of life at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach on November 17th for former VBIA executive director Sandy Burke Bishop (died October 17th at age 68).  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • Sandy Bishop (68), who led the Volusia Building Industry Association and volunteered with Food Brings Hope, was honored at a Nov. 17 celebration at Daytona State College attended by about 150 family and friends who remembered her strong, caring approach. Her work helped guide a rebound in local homebuilding after tough times, and two affordable homes named Sandy 1 and Sandy 2 will be built on the last lots she secured in 32114.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

  • Undergraduates at Embry-Riddle are testing supermirror coatings in the Prescott LIGO Optics Lab to help scientists hear faint ripples from space. They built a custom optical scanning system that measures tiny light shifts to guide future detector upgrades + improve research precision.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
