  • Jessica Buchanan from Volusia County was reunited with her long-missing cat Precious after a microchip scan at Animal Services identified the pet over four years after it went missing. Animal Services advises pet owners to update their microchip information (a measure that helped bring this reunion).  WNDB
  • Yesterday, Knuckle Sandwich in Orange City fed free Thanksgiving dinners to anyone with a food stamp card—after benefits were cut—and volunteers served meals made from scratch; the restaurant will host another event on December 24 with free meals and gifts for kids.  WESH

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A coyote killed a small dog in an Ormond Beach neighborhood near Sanchez Park when it grabbed the leash as residents reported repeated sightings — officials urge pet owners to keep animals on short leashes to prevent further incidents.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Teacher and single mom Melanie Lopez earned her doctorate with help from FBH Community's KidsZone program—this program cared for her twin sons while offering tutoring and meals. She will soon use the Homes Bring Hope program to apply for a home in Daytona Beach's 32114 area.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
