  • Jack Grass-Powell, aged 9, said he loved joining FBH Community's KidsZone program for school supplies, sports events and learning shows while his mom and he moved in with his grandma after hurricanes flooded their home and they hope to start fresh soon.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • Daytona Beach city officials released new renderings for a Main Street corridor redesign that may widen sidewalks, add landscaping, and secure safer crosswalks - the plan aims to attract developers and build year-round business while local owners support improved lighting but worry that cosmetic changes alone will not suffice.  WESH

  • The new Key Food Supermarket opens in Port Orange at 3818 S. Nova Road (the former Save-a-Lot and Fancy Fruit site) with a grand opening celebration scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a selection of international foods.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

  • Jules Kwiatkowski, a long-serving member of the East Flagler Mosquito Control Commission, passed away Tuesday evening at age 90 after 17 years of service — Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson will appoint a replacement to finish his term.  WNDB

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA recalled several shredded cheese products because they may contain metal, including some sold in Florida, after Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. voluntarily issued the recall on Wednesday, Dec. 3+ buyers are advised to check their supplies.  WESH
