  • Feral Ranch on 840 Pineda Road in Shady Acres will host its 'Feral Ranch with Santa at the Farm' event on Dec. 13, offering families photos with Santa + a highland calf along with hot chocolate and cookies for $10. The farm, open weekends, plans to welcome capybaras in 2026.  Hometown News
  • The Geminid meteor shower will peak Dec. 13-14 with up to 120 meteors per hour visible from dark sky spots across Florida. Clearer skies on the second night should boost views while NASA advises facing west to avoid moonlight (moon 30% full, rising at 2 a.m.).  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

  • Bronx House Pizza will open a new restaurant at 1307 Cornerstone Blvd, Suite A in Daytona Beach, expanding its presence in the Tomoka Town Center area. The popular chain will debut its first Daytona location in February to offer more Italian dining options.  WNDB

  • Local libraries in Daytona Beach and nearby areas present a series of holiday programs through the end of December, featuring storytimes, arts and crafts sessions, and adult learning workshops. ECONOMY NEWS

  • JetBlue has returned to Daytona Beach International Airport after nearly eight years with flights to New York and Boston. The flight landed at 10:10 a.m. Dec. 4 from JFK, and officials expect the routes to boost tourism and add 30 jobs * a promising sign for the economy.  Hometown News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eleven Florida high schools joined Daytona State College (Dec. 5) for the Sharpen Your Skills culinary competition. Competitors cooked three-course meals, created edible centerpieces and ran a relay challenge, with winners from Seabreeze, St. Lucie Centennial, Lake Mineola and South Lake high schools.  Hometown News
  • Embry-Riddle’s Center for Aerospace Resilient Systems will offer a summer internship from May 10 to August 10 for four students, giving hands-on experience to build advanced flight simulation systems as shown at DEF CON Aerospace Village last summer + applications open in January 2026.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
