  • On Dec. 3, Design for Health employees volunteered at Flagler Humane Society in Palm Coast to paint the cat room, giving up their holiday party to help care for nearly 150 animals each day. Their work shows how volunteers keep the shelter running.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • An Alabama company acquired Daytona Beach-based P&S Paving, known for work on projects like the Interstate 95 interchange at Pioneer Trail, on Oct. 20. Curtis Long now leads local operations as vice president to expand CPI’s infrastructure services along Florida’s east coast.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • Port Orange’s long-awaited riverfront development is now uncertain after the original developer backed out, prompting city officials to re-advertise the project next month with bids due in January. Local business owners hope a new developer will bring needed revitalization along Dunlawton and Ridgewood Avenue — a long-planned destination near the Halifax River.  WESH
  • Daytona Beach-based P&S Paving was named by FDOT on April 30, 2025 as the low-bidder for the planned $120 million Interstate 95 at Pioneer Trail interchange project in Port Orange/New Smyrna Beach — following its work on major local projects like the Daytona Rising makeover and Tomoka Town Center clearances.  The Daytona Beach News-Journal

  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University researchers tested a new model called the Bumblebee Model (led by Dr. Quentin Bailey and student Dario Walter-Cardona) that challenges Einstein’s theory by studying how black holes pull on space. HEALTH NEWS

  • A local nonprofit formed in Ormond Beach by Kayne Finley's mother now offers support for children diagnosed with brain cancer and their families. It raises funds to assist with treatment challenges (honoring the beloved swimmer's legacy).  The Daytona Beach News-Journal
