  • Avelo Airlines will end its weekly flights from Daytona Beach International Airport to Hartford, Connecticut and Charlotte/Concord, New Hampshire at the end of April because of poor performance indicators, while continuing flights to New Haven, Connecticut and Philadelphia/Wilmington, Delaware.  FOX 35 Orlando

  • The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said that contractor Ryan Matthew Paul scammed a 74-year-old DeLand homeowner out of $300K by taking two advance checks for home repairs after her house burned in January 2024—authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for tips to arrest him.  WESH
  • A Deltona teen, Eduardo Espinal-Ramgewan, 17, was arrested after he allegedly poured bleach into his 77-year-old adoptive mother's milk at a home on South Brickell Drive Saturday morning—he now faces charges of poisoning, attempted murder and aggravated abuse of an elderly person.  News 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lake County Fire Rescue is on high alert as dry weather increases the risk of rapidly spreading brush fires across Central Florida; burn bans have been enforced since March 25 in Lake, Brevard, Orange, Seminole, and Volusia counties. Firefighters have put extra resources on standby and urge residents to maintain a 50-foot buffer between structures and vegetation (leftover hurricane damage has added more fuel for potential fires).  WESH
