- ➤ Two people were injured and taken to Halifax Hospital after a small plane crashed around 10:30 a.m. Friday near New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport — area roads were closed as fire and police units responded. WESH
- ➤ On Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., a small plane crashed just outside New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport— injuring two people who were taken to a hospital and leading to a brief closure before the airport reopened. News 6

- ➤ Volusia County sheriff's detectives investigated a fake newspaper advertisement in Daytona Beach that misused the name of A.G. Pifer Construction—using an incorrect 850 phone number and omitting a required state certification—and was reported by owner Anthony Gregg Pifer after a friend spotted the ad in the Sunday, Aug. 17 edition.
